A friend sent me a video that was almost 30 minutes long (I know!) and I watched the whole thing (I know!). It was about Havre de Grace, a town in this county that is at the mouth of the Chesapeake. Havre de Grace (or HdG as we often refer to it) is a lovely place, with a lighthouse, a neat promenade along the water, and *the* best candy at Bomboy’s (they have a website if you happen to like delicious candy).

Anyway, I can’t imagine I would have forgotten this bit of information if I ever knew it, so I’m figuring I never knew it. It seems that Havre de Grace was one vote shy of being the capital of our country.

CountRy, not county.

I’m glad it didn’t win, as it would certainly not be the quaint place it is now. I can’t imagine how life around here would be if Havre de Grace was the capital of the United States.

I worked in Aberdeen, MD, for a year and lived in Perry Point, MD. The housing, not the hospital. HdG was in between and I also helped out at the high school as a part of work.

That must be where I’ve heard of this. Love the Chesapeake Bay area!

I like to think of Amherst as headquarters of Pseudo-Rastafarians International, North American chapter. There are a few reasons for this, but the primary one is that I have never in my life seen so many white people with dreadlocks.

The cool thing about living here is that I can go out in public wearing my Boricua-Princess-Rasta-Nefertiti-Shikse-Goddess (but only in profile) headgear and still blend in.

It’s been a long day, ladies and gentlemen, and it ain’t even close to over yet.

I know from personal experience that Santa Cruz, California would give Amherst a run for its money as the headquarters of Pseudo-Rastafarians International, North American chapter.

I don’t have as much direct experience with Portland, Oregon, but from what I’ve heard it would probably be the out right winner.

Tina Fey reprised a tiny bit of her “Saturday Night Live” Sarah Palin impersonation last night during a presentation at the Ad Council Annual Dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York.

During her 7:40 minute routine, Fey made some jokes about the former McCain vice-presidential candidate’s best-selling book, “Going Rogue,” and then said (at around 2:40 in the video below), “Mrs. Palin and I continue to have so much in common. They recently made a porn movie… this is true… about Sarah Palin and then this same adult actress, Lisa Ann, played me in a porn parody of ‘30 Rock’ …Weirdly, of the three of us, Lisa Ann knows the most about foreign policy.”

Fey saved her brief impersonation for the end of her time on stage, starting out in her own voice, “We’ll begin with an issue that is,” and then in her Palin voice “so critical to the future opportunity.”

The audience laughed, and she said, “I’m gonna be doing that ‘till I’m dead.”
